Virgil Peachey of Peachey Productions began flying
floatplanes commercially for Curriers Flying Service on
Moosehead Lake, Maine before moving to Alaska. He has
also flown floatplanes for Taquan Air and Promech Air in
Ketchikan, and Alaska Air Taxi and GCI in Anchorage.
Floatplanes commercially flown include:
Piper PA-12, Cessna 180, 195, 206, deHavilland Beaver
and Otter (piston and turbine).
Videography
After one season of flying out of Ketchikan, and
being totally inspired by the beauty, and adventure
associated with flying floats in Alaska, Virgil began
shooting video with the intentions of producing
floatplane videos. Footage was shot on Canon Mini-dv
(3 ccd) cameras, models XL1, and GL2, both capable of
providing broadcast quality video.
The goal is to produce a series of DVD videos about
Floatplanes of Alaska, focusing on different regions and
adventures.
